Lake Erie Boaters

I was looking through some adds on Boat Treader Online and I came across a statement in one of them that made me laugh.

"New to the market, this boat is a fresh water boat from Lake Erie. This makes it a very desirable boat as it has not received the wave pounding that boats in the ocean get."

Lake Erie can get plenty rough at times and it has beat me up more then once.

When I get ready to sell I'm taking my boat to Florida and pushing the fresh water and Lake Erie speal where the bigest wave I've encountered came from another boat.

I've boated Erie a few times also. Some of the worst 3-4 footers I have ever seen. Never saw more than 35 feet on the depth finder. Shallow water makes for closely spaced, steep waves and lots of pounding. I say the add is full of sh%$ LOL!!!!!!!!

maybe they were talking about Sandusky Bay:D :D

I don't think he ever left the marina!
I guess we all have a different definition of "rough water"

Hey Chris was that you pulling your boat out of west harbor last weekend at the ramp with the 28AT?

One thing I know, I've been on Erie around Put-In-Bay in 4-5 footers and it is not fun to me. I wasn't scared, but I didn't bother to run the boat hard, and I didn't see any one else running their boat hard either. As a matter of fact, I didn't see any performance boats out there with me other than my buddy.

I think a lot of times people exaggerate when they say they were running WOT in serious rough. Come to think of it, I have only seen it happen on very, very rare occasions in serious big ass performace (35' and larger) boats!!!!!

I have heard some people say, "Erie is one of the worst places for a storm as well as wakes too."

Yes, that was me.
Was that you getting ready to launch that mean looking Cigarette? If so, you have one of the nicest 28's I think I have seen. The water was FUN last Sunday, another smooth day on lake Erie :D

My wife and I just got back from crazy week at PIB. Special thanks to Cordell (Cgarrett) and his wife Becky for showing us a great time!!! Can't wait to go back!

THRILLSEEKER 07-11-2002 10:49 AM

Chris... Yep that was my cig. My friend and I spent the weekend at Kellys and had a helluva good time met a lot of cool people at the Casino. Do you boat around the islands alot?

And yes, he must not have left the marina

I wanted to get to Fairport Harbor Race this weekend and also hang out at Pickle Bills. Unfortunatly it's not going to happen as my wifes grandmother passed away. I also have a family reunion on sunday.

Chris, your welcome! We tried to do as much as possible in the week we were there. Are you giving away beads at Rum Runners now?

We'll have to keep an eye out for that national geographic documentary that the coast guards were filming. I'm positive I seen him zooming in on the bottle of Jack by the throttles.
