That's just so sad. I don't know what I'd do if I lost one (or both) of my kids to an avoidable accident.

I can`t and will not understand how these things happen on the water.People need to pay attention and be focused.

That is very sad. I hate to hear about the loss of life with something like that.

Having done a lot of night boating, I would be willing to bet the the two things happened.

1) The bass boat was traveling too fast for late night dark conditions.

2) The Party Barge did not have any light on.

I don't know what it is about people, but they want to anchor and/or drift around in the middle of thee main channel of the lake I'm on a lot with no lights.

The wife and I pulled into our favorite cove last year at around 1:00AM and dropped anchor. We ALWAYS keep the anchor light on. Get up the next morning and there are six boats in the cove, none with their light on. Party barges seem to be the worse.

I always hear people say that they don't want to attract bugs?

If you don't attract bugs, you'll damn sure attract boats!! Way too many stupid people operating boats!
