Thanks for the kind comments everyone. He had a great life and gave us a lots of love. We loved him back and he will be missed. Spirit loved the water. He was a German Shepherd but I think he thought of him self as a labrador. He loved coming with us on the boat and couldn't wait to jump into the water.
Spirit did not like firecrackers during the 4th of July or New Years, must be a loud noise thing .. so we took him on the Infiniity and the Formula (before I sold it) He will be missed and forever loved.

So sorry.............feels like a punch to the stomach every time. I have lost too many over the years myself. The unfortunate reality is that we usually outlive our pets. I have 3 shepherds and a shepherd mix now. 2 were rescues. When you are ready the shelters are full of dogs that would love a second chance. Again, sorry for your loss.

Sorry about your loss. Pet's are part of the family, and the loss is hard for the family as a whole. Even cats. My lab is 12 YO and not doing well. He has been a large part of my life since he was a pup 12 years ago. His health is on the decline and just recently started just falling over and urinating. I think he is experiencing strokes. I know his time is limited and my wife keeps trying to talk about it. I just ignore her and say " not yet". It's gonna suck, but I know whats coming.
I had one of our cats put down a couple years ago, it was a great pet and turned out to be one of the hardest things I have had to do. I was with the vet while she was injected and tried to keep her eyes on me as she past. It took 20 minutes and two injections. I will never visit that vet again.
Hopefully Spirit passed on his own accord.
