Blackhawk The first thing to check is that the linnes are hooked up correctly the trim pump has a high and low pressure side to it the high side should be pushing the tab down. Mike Nicholson

I unhooked the bottom of my cylinders from my planes and the planes move free. Then I hit my switches and the port cylinder is actually moving slower. Now I just need to figure out why. I am going to check voltage, then switch cylinders, then switch selenoids, and finally switch pumps.

Mike, wouldn't my K-plane work backwards if I switched the lines? (go up when I hit the down switch and vise versa)

You may also want to bleed all the fluid out of both and replace with the same weight fluid back in each. This could be happening due to different weight fluids being added over time.

Bruce, I never thought of that. Thanks.

Okay, syitched cylinders last night. Port side still slow. I checked the voltage at the input side of the selenoids. 12.4 on all of them. Had my brother hit the switch and checked output. 10.2 on both starboard and 9.7 on both port. So, I am basically a 1/2 volt low on the port side. But, I can't believe that a 1/2 volt would cause that much difference.

I am going to flush and replace the fluid in both tonight to make sure they have the exact same fluid in both. If that doesn't work I'll switch selenoids. What a pain in the a**!

Pumps say to use 10W-30 or 10W-40 for fluid. Has anyone ever used anything else to make the K-planes faster?

The seals can dry out when they get old. I have trim cyls that get draggy on one drive. Spray the rams with fogging oil and cycle them a couple of times. Works wonders on my trims.

Greg, I tried that already. I switched rams and the port side was still slower. Thanks for the advice though. Anyone run anything besides 10W-30 or 10W-40 that made them faster?

I use ATF
