My one engine is in the shop and I figured i would open the other one just to check thing . Every thing in there is new and looks great ! BUT , On the rod bearings , the back side is brownish looking . What is it ? It is a tight fit .It's not moving ,I don't think . Just looked at 1 . Haven't checked mains yet . Any ideas ?

Hey boot
I can't help with your question but wanted to thank you for the Western Diesel pillars. I have them installed and will try to get some pics up before I leave. They look great! Also, I'm sending you a PM. |

Boot, can you post a pic?? I have seen small traces of varnish build on the back of bearings due to high oil temps. Do you have oil temp guages on your motors??

Insptech, I have gauges but they were not working .(wrong senders ). I just got the boat last year and only had it out 3 times on test runs before it popped . Both motors ran hot ,180-190. They are blower motors should be around 120 degrees I geuss . This motor is said to have about 10 hours on it were as the other that detonated and popped 3 pistons was older . This could be high oil temp ?? Do I need to change bearings now due to that ? I probably will anyway but want to know why it looks this way . I will post pictures tomorrow . THank you .
