The first time you hear “ 24 Fountain” you do a double take and say ‘”24?” Yes that’s right, I thought the same thing until it rolled into our shop one day. The longer you look at it, the more it makes sense, from it’s wrap around windscreen and defined walk around it has Fountain written all over it. The boat was traded in to us original condition, less power. The Cockpit and Windscreen will be install upon paint completion The engine we have picked for this project is a 502 MPI with a cracked block. The engine building process will be documented from start to finish. This demonstration will show how important proper winterizing can be, also how a severe overheat can lay a block to rest. This particular boat is Hull #47, our research indicated that Hull #93 was the last 24 to float off the assembly line. It’s unclear weather 93 was the total boats built or if hull numbers were skipped throughout the build process. During this build we will primarily change the overall image of the exterior, while working with the untouched factory upholstery. This build will include:

2) Is that not inviting a headache from a retail business POV?

I would imagine that they will be replacing the block and use the rest of the good engine parts and components.
I always loved the look of the boat. Almost bought one at one point. Was ahead of its time like the XR4TI!

it was a cool looking boat ,
its actually a 21ft boat if you remove extended nose and extended transom with a very shallow V..

Here are some pics of the Fresh GM 502 Block. All pictures are prior to prep / machine work. We picked a damaged engine to start with so everyone can see exactly what goes into machining / prepping / building an engine from the ground up. These 502 Blocks specifically are becoming harder and harder to come by.

Yes, we sold a number of those up here and that one looks to be in well above average condition. They were styled to look like a junior 47 CS and did that quite well. And, it looks like it was optioned up correctly with the full hydraulic steering and K-Planes. Many didn't have either of those and that made them a bit of a hand full to drive. (Some actually had Bennett twin ram tabs from the factory.)

The 502 Magnum was actually the most popular engine choice up here and they will run mid-70's with it. Your guys are going to love / hate rigging it though. There's precious little extra space under the hatch. Winterizing them is a royal pain - which may explain the cracked block.

Are you going to leave the water ballast tank in her?
