As written in the story, this is the first production set of 1650s, available to all qualified race teams, to go in a raceboat and that boat is Miss GEICO.

The engines in the 52-foot MTI were 1350s.

Well, for the immediate future at least Mercury Racing will only sell them to race teams. That's according to Erik Christiansen, the company's general manager (that, too, is in the news story) and I have no reason to doubt him.
