So, what can be used below the waterline, that looks good and isn't a ***** to spray. So does that basically mean if you want to get a good finish that can stand up to being in the water for a couple months is gel coat the only option with custom graphics? [/B][/QUOTE]

OK, on an offshore, my belief is that you want to have a polished surface on the lower hull. Anything less than that and you are compromising speed.

Re-Gelling is your best option, because of the durability and the ability to hold up against water. The downfall........it's a royal pain to apply and polish.

Painting with Imron or all-Grip is probably your next best option, but it will probably migrate water within a couple of weeks and blister.

The only paint that I'm aware of that holds up to water is what they use on the bottoms of cruisers. It is dull and not for hi-performance offshore types, and usually looks terrible within 2 years.

Truthfully, it would be cheaper to look into rack storage or a lift system, try and polish your hull and keep it waxed and clean. If you were willing to do that then you could get away with repainting.

Those were the days, custom painted stand up jet skis were king! A far cry from doing Casino Runner I bet. Midnight:cool:

Thanks Mitcher, You did help in keeping me from throwing money at a mistake. In reality my boat is not in need of painting. I looks great, but it is a bit dated. It is after all 16 years old. I keep it on the trailer now, but I find I use it alot less than when I had it in the water. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Mitcher T - Butch moved to Florida after he sold the business to Mitch Cook. The group that bought Butch's obviously went out of business. Butch now works for Sea Doo/Bombardier as National sales rep. I guess he is doing really well. I still have contact with several friends that worked there the whole time right up until it closed.
