WOW!!! 4.30 gears.....that thing must really sing goin' down the highway at 65-70......or will it run that fast ???? & 14 mpg ??? no way!!! I am also looking at moving into a 250/350 so I like this thread, but really !!! 4.30's but it truly would pull stumps. 80% highway driving, 10% city & 5% pullin' the boat, so I have other things to consider other than the ultimate torque/towing monster with infinitely high (numerically) gear ratio. I gotta' keep it at that magic 11-15mpg range and still pull the occasional 10,000 rig....and stop it of course!! That is the problem now, braking....actually my 5.4 pulls it pretty well. Just can't go over 55 due to "control" issues.

Excellent Troutly, I have been thinking about the V10 for several reason- mostly wife reasons (!!). I will lean more that way now.

Default Go for it!

2002 V-10 with 27,000 miles and 0 problems. Pulls 5,000# boat, kids, etc. down to LOTO like nothing is back there. It's not even working at just over 2000 RPM.

Gas is nothing to write home about but who cares!

Good luck!!!

I know we don't want to make this a chevy vs. Ford thing.

But the chassis on the Ford is alot beefier than the Chevy
Look at the weight differences of the truck and then put them on a lift and look underneath.
