Not necessarily. There are many factors to consider.
Less timing will most likely increase EGT's.
Running more timing, to a certain extent, and depending on the cam profile, can actually bleed off the cranking compression faster and reduce the risk of detonation.

I meant that but it came out wrong.... I just know for fact that 28-30 is a very SAFE zone with a blower in almost every application, not always, but MOST...

Since we are talking about timing right now... with a non blower motor what kind of timing is safe for a SBC? My motor was just broken and the guy set it at 32 degrees at 3k. I was told I can up it to 34-36 for more power. Would this even be noticeable?
