Default Boat stored in the water vs trailered or lift, deal breaker or no??

I am looking at a Powerquest 340 vyper. It is a 2001 and has been stored in fresh water all season long since it was new. There is no building over the boat and the only cover on it is cockpit cover. It is in really nice shape but I really want a boat that has not been stored in the water. Am I being to picky? What exactly does storing them in the water all season do to them I have never tried it. Thanks

I don't want one stored in water because it means bottom paint. I don't want to deal with removing it.

Galvanic corrosion and water intrusion into the transom, etc. I would get a survey done if you are serious about the boat.

Both excellent points above, bottom paint is a PITA and tends to hide stuff and I would be super concerned about any boat staying in the water for that lenght of time, definitley get it checked out by someone who know their stuff even then it better be a super kick azz deal, good luck.

Removing Bottom paint is a PITA, but I wouldn't say a boat that wears it is going to be junk. There are literally thousands of 30yrs old cruisers rocking bottom paint that stay solid...

I have a 1989 cruiser and the bottom is perfect. Not a single blister or issue. From what I understand, it is all how the glass is laid. If a boat is going to blister, it will blister in a very short amount of time, less then one year in the water... I have also been told the bottom paint only prevents growth and does not protect the glass. It is a PITA to get off, that is fact..

Just my personal experience, and in no way an expert.

The bottom paint isn't so bad its the 15 coats of thermonuclear resistant barrier coat some people put on before the bottom paint.....

Are we even sure it has bottom paint? If it's fresh water it might not.....

Funny how boats were once meant to be in the water.

I would say it all depends if it blistered or not, bottom paint sucks to remove but can be done I did it..sucked but soda blasting made it a lot easier to deal with, that's provided it has bottom paint...
