If we didn't break the 311 when it ran 80 for 9 years.... I don't think we can....... that boat beat up on some very expensive rigs back in the day...lol

Dude...you know the answer to this....Don boat vs Wannabe Don boat...no brainer.

Deep down inside in your gut you know what's real...on that grey overcast Lake Erie day...snotty confused water every way you look and you have 20 miles ahead of you and you're trying to out run a front....which one ?...think about it.

Go with what you know.

I've had my 31 excel for 9 years now, and is my favorite boat all around. It took over 750hp per side with bravos to break 80 but at 850hp I was breaking bravos. Wish it was worth it to upgrade drives but if 80 mph was enough then the excel would be my choice.

I own a 23 nova. Boat is great in the sloppy water. It is very heavy and needs to run about 42 mph to ride nicely in a 3 to 5 ft chop. I found running around 30 mph the boat rode worse. Better to skip off the tops then launch from the trough. I was able to keep up with the 27 footers fine. Boat is a great boat for the Long Island and NYC area. We have a good mix of bay and ocean water.

The hull changed a bit with the excel line. The boats were a little faster, I think it was a reduction of weight. But the Nova was better in the rough stuff.

Then again it could have been the driver... Some pull the throttles back... Others just smile
