glad to see some pictures of the build on here. I think this one isn't sold yet, somebody needs to pick this one up. easily one of the best built boats out there, ive owned mine since new and the boat is still rock solid for over 15 years.

Thanks for posting the build progress. Can you tell us about the transom lay up & materials.

Also the hot coat does not add extra resin ( weight ) soaking deeper into the balsa core as you are looking for an overall lighter boat. Would this be correct ?. Again thank you for your time.

You are correct; it also prevents the balsa from sucking out the resin from the next layer of fiberglass on top of it.

Looks great! When you did the 41's were they also balsa cored? Have you ever tried vaccum bagging? What, if any advantage is there in using a balsa core bottom over a straight glass build?

Yes, the 41's are also Balsa cored, with a thicker 1" core on the bottom, vs. the 28's 3/4" bottom core.

We have done some vacuum bagging, either method works good if the laminators are skilled.

With the Balsa core, the 28 hull bottom is over an inch thick. This results in a laminate that is many times stiffer than a thinner single skin. The load is spread from the outer skin through the core to the inner skin and structure like an I beam. Because the core is light-weight compared to the fiberglass, the laminate weight per square foot is not excessive to gain all this stiffness and strength.
