Default Cat History

After reading the interesting thread about cats and there history I see there is one thing that is missing. Can anyone tell me what was the name of the first Cat. Manufact. to build a pleasure offshore version out of glass. The first ones where infact cougar's they were wood and alum. And i will give you all a hint they built a few race boats and only built 3 for pleasure and all still float.

Tague:

Probably the Shark Cats.....out of Australia... I think he built them in the 70's. Buzzi was making his little outboard demons in about 1980....... The Shadow and Brownie(Cougar) cats came along in 1980-81.... I believe we debuted at the New York Boat show in January..... Brownie in Miami in February.
Active Cats( Cougar Designed) from Michigan arrived in about 1982..if memory serves.

BUT........ Yamaha made a hell of a big 22 foot cat in 1967.

Take your pick.

If you're talking about Active built at the Miami factory on 188th then I believe one was destroyed off the coast of Miami leaving Mr. Idoni floating in the water with a broken leg. My bad I see you're talking about pleasure boats, that one was the Fayva Shoes Boat and was a race version.

Wasn't the Fayva shoes boat that came apart a wood cougar?

Fayva Shoes had two Cougars the One that broke up off Fort Lauderdale was Fayva Cat #2 the first Catamaran with arneson Surface drives , Fast Pretty Boat Ran 126 Testing which was like unheard of (the Arneson boat ran 102 Example)

Idoni said it happened so Quick that he was driving one moment then the next all he saw was blue water and bubbles!
Manard Lived up to his nick name that day “the flying Frenchman”

Yes Wood !!

I personally cut the thing into pieces small enough to fit into a Toyota Pickup. A dozen or so trips to the dump it was gone, we wanted to rebuild it but the Boss said not a Splinter was to be left! Personally I liked the Boat and Hated to destroy the rest of it!
