My family has had a cottage 6 miles south of the harbor for over 50 years and the trip up is a breeze. There is nothing to hit out in the lake as long as you stay motr than 100' from shore. I make the run as a day trip often. Leave St. Clair in the morning and leave Lex after dinner its about an hour and 30 min depending how fast you cruise. I have made it in 57 min. from deckers. If the wind is out of the Northeast stay home.

Fountain 27,

I grew up in Lexington and my parents still live there. Unfortunately There arent any hotels in Lex. just a few bed and breakfasts. There is a little motel on the lake just a few blocks south of the harbour but i forget the name. You cant miss the harbour unless you get way offshore. Its made up of big white boulders. I would recomend staying at least 100 yards off shore as ther are some big boulders under the surface as well. The harbour is nice and as b.r.s. mentioned its only a short drive from lake St.clair. If your a golfer bring your sticks because there's a shuttle that runs from the harbour to Lakeview hills golf course (approx. 1 mile ) Actually now that i think of it the golf course built a hotel a few years back, they may even shuttle you back a forth as they do for golfers. If not you could catch a cab. Let me know what weekend your going up, every now and then I get up there to see the parents and if it works out we could hook up for a beer.

I may actually be up there Sun. The grass needs to be cut. There is also a large water tower near the harbor. You cant miss it. I have gps coordinates if you need them I can post.

Lexington is a state marina. You can make a reservation on the Michigan DNR web site. Other areas to consider - Grand Bend, Canada. About the same distance from Port Huron, and a fun place to party.

J.C. here are the cordinates

N 43*15.976'
W 82*31.308'

These are the mouth of the harbor. You can't miss it you can see the tower for miles and the rock wall sticks out like a sore thumb. I have some work to do as we are finally getting the city water hooked up and I have to take down a 40' antenna tower before I go out. Hope to launch around 2:00 and ram around for a couple hours. Keep an eye out I'm hard to miss.

Dave
