U.S. Passport fees increasing (APBA Bahamas race)

I don't know if you can get into the Bahamas using just a birth certifcate and driver's license (like you can to get into Mexico and Canada); if any one knows for sure, please post the info.

Otherwise...U.S. Passport fees are going up beginning Monday August 19.

Currently, the fees for people 16 years and older are
$45 to U.S. State Dept, $15 to processing agent (usually the Post Office where you file your application) = $60 total

Beginning Aug 19, the State Dept fee increases to $70, so the overall cost is $85 ($25 more).

These fees are for regular processing (4-5 weeks).

If you want expedited services, the additional "speed fee" increases from $35 (for a total of $95=45+15+35) to $60 (for a total of $145 = 70+15+60)

The fees for renewing an existing passport are also going up Aug 19.

For more info, go to this U.S. Government website:

DL and raised seal birth certificate. Was there last weekend and asked that question for sure so I would know when you all asked.

Most important is to be nice and smile and don't give an attitude and your in. The Bahamians like the tourists to help their economy.

Below is a picture of the Customs boat that greeted us, notice the name of the boat.
