I see a few turbine cats available for sale, as with all boats their value seems to depreciate fairly quickly but I thought they would hold their value a little better due to reliability of the engines. I am sure there are some on OSO that have owned a turbine & can give some pros & cons of owning a turbine engine boat.

Also if you know of any for sale that aren't in the classifieds here I would be interested in seeing what is available for a big cat.

I have thought the same thing. I used to be into airplanes and turbines were always 10x more reliable than pistons. They would actually fit my style of boating. We just back of the lift, run a bit and then go back on the lift. Not doing a lot of docking and going places in the boat.

The problems I see with them are

insurance
only a few folks can work on them

There sure are some nice ones for sale for about 1/3 of what they cost new.

Single reason is people always assume negative things about what they don't know. First misconception is that insurance is any worse than a equally powered big block boat. Instead of going into depth on here ill list a couple reasons why the turbines are better than big blocks:

1. Less maintenance
2. Higher cruise speeds (if the water allows you can run at 100% for hours)
3. Easier docking than surging blower motors

I looked into insurance & it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be, that is why I am looking at buying one.

Just listed mine today, not a cat but with the cruise speeds of the turbines, you just leave it on the dash until the sterlings throw a rod through the oil pan...

Just messing with you, but yeah if you're an airplane guy, you understand that the engines will last more hours than most of us will boat in our lifetimes.
