A LOT easier to maintain and not many BBC techs out there unless you are in Trinidad and even that. I don't think it looks bad if you are in the islands. I would have gone with XS but i'm sure he's boating every weekend....

This.

It is odd to see a big power I/o there and no one really works on them at all. Lots of Power Plays, fountain, and more all sport outboards.

I live in the islands and I think it's retarded! You want outboards, buy a boat that was designed to be an outboard boat. Outboards are popular here and perhaps more practical but we also have many mechanics who are very familiar with I/Os...there are many of them in the Virgin Islands from small blocks straight up to big power 1100s.
