What years where that? The 04-06's had long spark plugs that bottomed out on heads and over time fused due to heat. So when you go to unscrew, they would break off. Tried a couple different brands, the "lisle" I think it was worked easy, but pushed the electrode down and then you could pull it out. fun stuff!!

FWIW, I have a 2003 Navigator with 100K miles, towing my boat [ on the trailer 8300 lbs, SUV is rated to tow 8900 on the OEM hitch ] great. Phragle, you could find a Navi almost as cheap as an Expy
now a days because people are afraid of these SUV's, thinking about maintenance costs. So far I only replaced one coil [ OEM is 90 bucks, Accel was 37]
and just replaced the accessory belt, keeping the old one as spare. All electronics work despite the fact this SUV is riddled with a ton of it. Mine is the Ultimate model with GPS, DVD, heated/cooled seats, remote lift gate and so on. The difference between the Navi and Expy is the engine. The Expeditions came with the 3 valve Triton engine while the Navigator had the Intech DOHC 32 V engine until 2006 I think. The Navigator never had the spark plug issue like the three piece ones in the Trident in 150 trucks. The Navi has air bags with level control that can be turned off for lower stance, fully independent suspension for great handling, 13.5" discs on all four, 8 pass seating, aluminum hood, fenders, tailgate, real wood trim inside, I see them as low as 5-6 K depending on milage.I'll keep mine till it falls apart because it's worth way more than NADA and tire kickers would offer for it.

Used to use an 01 expedition w/ the 5.4 to pull a 23ft cuddy, motor left a lil desired for more power. I was in my teens bought it with 80k miles totaled it with 120k, was prolly some of the hardest 40k miles a motor has ever seen & it never missed a beat. Just air filters & oil changes.

It doesn't help having 2 K worth of beer and booze.
'
mine had 3:73's, maybe better gears for the freeway???? Agreed, on bad gas milage. got 8 towing.
Do you know what that scaled in at? The Expedition scaled in at 5150 lbs. Just curious, my 2010 crew cab F150 scales 6180.

It wasnt bad around town with the 4.10's power wise. Kinda peppy from light to light everyday driving. Just with the boat hooked to it, it was a turd...

i would look for a 03 and newer navigator. they are a decent tow vehicle and you can pick them up very reasonable. i have towed a 38 top gun from fl to ny and a 11,000 lb velocity every weekend. the air bags worked well.

The Navigator is a 1/2 T truck. using the F150 hydro-formed frame unlike some other SUV's that are unibody construction. It weighs a hefty 6000 lbs, more than the Expedition I believe.

I think you meant 600# not 6000#. I didn't know it was more pickup that an Expedition. Must be why I liked mine so well. I prefered it to the Escalade we traded it for.
