I'd say it would be near impossible to chop 150lbs of an LS style motor considering they are normally an alloy block to start with, and physically much smaller than a BBC, along with plastic intake manifolds etc, not a lot of areas for weight reduction, not cheaply anyway

The 6.2 LSA engine weighs a mere 467 lbs. On a power to weight ratio its pretty damn good. The weight of a Seven (1094 lbs) is really in the rest of the outboard. Those numbers are from GM website and Seven website.

im talking off the entire package, lightening holes in the gears, etc. like hollow axles on race cars, you can remove a lot of weight if you look at each part in the system and lighten it as much as you can without weakening the component

My concern with sevens is longevity. Has anyone runone at 4000 rpm for 1000 hours yet. The rep a Miami show said no. I would like to see how they hold up.

those ls engines are tuff sobs, good metallurgy, 6 bolt mains, i dont think they will have problems with reliability

Ls engines take abuse period. Plenty of stock bottom end ones make 1000 hp for 1000 1/4 passes, with zero issue. Just sucks they cost what they do for the 7's. I have Ls blocks with over 100k miles on them, still can see cross hatches from the machine work orig done.

I was thinking about what you do when you blow a gearcase or a header (they must have one) starts leaking. How much does that cost to fix? I guess if you have the 85k to buy them you have the $ to fix them but you could buy 2 300 verados and still have 47k in your jeans......

But you need 3 or 4 300 verados to equal 2 sevens. That is there entire mkting strategy. And verados will be evn less reliable.

I realize that, 2 verados are less than 38k, one seven is 85k according to Gino. 85 minus 38 is 47......as long as you have enough room to keep bolting verados on the back. I'm my humble opinion I would sooner have 4 verados than 2 sevens.
