I'm using that cam on a 496 stroker with gil manifolds. It's on the ragged edge of reversion with short risers. I advanced the cam a touch, the EVC event was too late straight up. You must degree in that cam and give it about 1* if you want to use it with short risers.

Do you have anymore info or a video of your motor? Your the first person ive come across using this cam. I think i may just go ahead and lengthen the 496 risers while its apart based on your post.

I did the build, minus the machine work, myself. 454 .060 over, 4.25 steel crank, 6.385 rods, probe 18cc domed pistons, 049 heads (twins to 781s) ported and polished with 2.19/1.88 valves, comp springs 134# seat pressure, scorpion full roller rockers, Howards cam/roller lifters/custom length pushrods, eddy rpm air gap (switching to Vic jr), fast ez-efi, gil exhaust from a HP500.
It's a stump puller, but it signs off a little early and falls off a cliff after 5k. I'm going to switch to long or dry trails and run a larger cam. I'm leaving at least 50hp on the table with this cam, especially having it advanced.

**edit in** It is a 93 or better only engine with that cam and 10:1 static.

That cam, even straight up, will run out of steam before 5400, peak torque will be closer to 5000. Mine is in a Crownline 225CCR which is not a fast hull at all and hits a brick wall at 68mph. I can spin a 26p on the limiter, 68... I've spun a 30p to 4700, 68 with a ton of slip. A few others have put decent power in these boats and say an extension box pushes the wall up to the mid/upper 70's, but after that it's just a black hole for hp. Keep in mind, though, it was a 53-55 mph boat with a 330, so it was a pretty big gain for a crap hull. I'm currently plotting against my wife on how to pick up a fountain or similar without her calling a lawyer. I may need a partner in crime to fudge the numbers lol...

I think the boat taking up 7 more feet in the shop would be a dead giveaway. Funny how she says they all look the same but can somehow tell when I have a different prop mounted. Seriously, she walked out and said "That looks different, how much did that thing cost?" WTF? She also knows to take whatever number I give her and multiply it by at least 3... Somewhere, sometime, somehow, I slipped up....
