Mike, most the marine guys around here charge a grand for pulling and reinstalling an engine. I spent $2500 with my machinist to balance and assemble my short block including new callies crank, he was going to do the heads and set up valve train but the heads were bad so I ended up buying new. Hope this helps

Probably not going to help here, but doesn't it depend on what a "rebuild is" and what horsepower we are talking about. I'm with Kurt on Door's marine, Tim is great, but I'm a little more than 7K on my rebuild. I basically need everything new but the heads and the block. PM me if you really want to know.

Kind of a crazy question if you ask me.

Totally depends on what motors and what boat they are in.

This is why Brian answered 5k-50k.

The dollar per motor ratio here seems to be the worst on gen 6 vortec 454 .usually cracked no core value milkshake clogged oil cooler cramped boat blah blah about 7500 on those out the door you have to stand behind it too . The vortec motors pay the bills the performance stuff is more for the love otherwise I would be fixing trams at the airport and watching a movie or something in stead of being on this forum . Have a buddy that has done some 100k boat engine builds , that's no r+r ,did not get rich either . He now does volume euro motors ,not exciting, but pays his overhead on very large shop
