PAINT SPECS
Hey Jon:
With all the opinion on this site about type of paint to use, what is the specs on what you're using? Did you use Imron or what? I assume you are wet sanding with something like 1600 grit, so how many times or hours do yWingwallou think it is going to take you? It sure looks good with the progressive photos! |
Jon, is this why we havent seen you at Havasu lately? Better hurry, the best part of the year is coming up.

UT: I have not been at havebrew because I have been working my tail off on this thing. Secondly why would I go all the way out there in the summer. Havabrew is for the winter :D:D
Luvoffshore. I went with Gelcoat. For a couple reasons. First off it is better if you are going to leave the boat in the water for more then two days Imron and Awlgrip say NO WAY. I used a product called Duraclear in with the paint. This will make the paint not only shine better and longer but it also makes it spray out MUCH nicer. The other advantage is that repairs are a snap. Were Awlgrip and Imron repairs can suck. I am currently sanding it down quickly with 180, then 320, then 600, maybe 1000 then buff. I tell ya what is amazing is that even when you hit this stuff with 180 it has a shine to it!!!! I figure with the 600 it should shine up real nice :D:D Jon |
Fair point, fair point!
