Our lovely Government is trying to pass a law that would require all computers and digital TV to have this new technology that basically puts a "GPS system" on your stuff.
Think you'd be able to get around the law by removing the policeware from your personal computer? Think again -- anyone who defies the government by disabling or tampering with the policeware on their own computer, in the privacy of their own home or business, would also face five years in the slammer.
"You, if you're one of the millions of Americans who uses your computers to burn music CD's, listen to MP3's, share video files, etc. You'd face up to five years in federal prison and a $500,000 fine."
The Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act is practically an endorsement for Windows. If the open source OS developers don't cooperate with the government, that leaves no other options but MS. It's bad enough that they break anti-trust laws and the government won't do anything about it.
If they're going to require policeware in our PCs, they might as well just slap a Lojack on our ankles to keep tabs on us. I see little difference. What is the world coming to?
