Default Yup, he called it a cigar boat.

With the weather delays and a surgery scheduled soon I decided to hire someone to clean and wax to boat. I call a guy and he asks how long the boat is and what brand. I reply 32' Fountain. He replies "Is that a cigar boat?"
Having never actually heard someone say that I was momentarly tongue ties trying to say something and eventually said "No it's shorter then a cigar boat". I guess all he works on is cruisers.

Went car shopping yesterday and the salesman also called it a cigar boat. I told him don`t do that, and explained what a Cigarette boat is.

as far as I know there was only one Cigar boat. it was a stepped version of a 41 Apache. I owned it for a little while but it did not have engines or drives at the time. I sold it off and lost track of it till a year or so ago when it was for sale on ebay with a different name or homemade or what ever.

I thought "Cigar Boat" was a generic name for most long and thin offshore powerboats ie, Fountains, Scarabs, Cigs, ect. Have heard this used for years.

"cigarette boat" is generic, just like "coke" is a generic term for sodas. "cigar boat" is a term uninformed people use to refer to offshore style boats.

Are them cigar boats wider than those cigarette boats?

Hope the surgery goes well for you and you have a fast recovery.
