Either they won't let it wind out, and you get no intake velocity, hence the low hp number, or they were limited by the exhaust and used an insufficient cam and it can't wind out and make any power.
Good point, I was confused a little on the pieces used to build it, but Im sure if you ran 11:1 compression like the cam is supposed to have it would run alot harder. My long block is actually a 500 EFI, Gen 6 roller. 2.25' intake valves. I might bump the compression to 9.5 or so.

Decide now if you want wet or dry exhaust. If wet, brand and model have a lot to do with how much cam you can run and how it's timed. The cam will dictate how much static compression you can run... (To a point, unless you want to push the edge, then a lot comes into play)

Damn, It takes a LOT to get one of those going. You must really have to love a boat like that to dump money into a motor. Ive never had one but it seems you could get a 25'+ boat of another brand to run in the mid 80's with what it takes to get that thing to break 60... I may be inclined to reconsider which boat I was running ..Not knocking Crownline, But......Damn...

Yeah, they are not light fast boats by any means. But, they ride good, are built good, and who doesn't like a sleeper? Winter plans for mine are: extension box, xr upper, imco -2 lower, k-planes, hydraulic steering, 30p bravo 1. My build wasn't too exotic, I could have went way way further. Once I get done beating this hull into the ground, I'll buy a fast hull with no rigging and transfer it all.

Compared to what? Other boats with 19 degrees of deadrise? Because they certainly don't ride anything like a 24 degree boat does.

Yep , as soon as the lake is anything but flat you feel like your nuts are bouncing off the floor . Rode in friends 225 Crown with a Procharged 454 Mag EFI , 1" Imco shorty and labbed B1 many times . Nice little sleeper though ! Before the 1" shorty that thing would like to snap your neck from the chine walk and felt like it was trying to screw itself into the lake !

Haven't had an issue with mine. When it gets rough, I trim down to drop the nose and does fine. If you leave it trimmed up you'll end up airborne.

My buds always rode very flat even when stock . Positive trim just produced more roost and no speed . Must have a pronounced hook built into the bottom of his .

I'd wager you've also never ridden in a boat with decent deadrise.

You'd win that bet.
