Ya. Unlikely your 625s became 750s with new injectors. You should have called Eddie young.

I've just purchased a 38 w/ 750+'s and I'm running the 32's also (4 blades) on IMCO extreme SC's. They have an inward rotation (port-clockwise, starboard-counter). Does the rotation matter? I've seen almost all fountains w/ the inward rotation, and formula, ect w/ outward rotation.

Inward rotation on Fountains is typically good for a couple of MPH on the top end but it comes at a cost of handling around the docs, especially in reverse.

I have an 01 38 lighting side by side with 500 EFI dynoed at 619hp from orlandis performance here in MI, 32p 4 blades spinning 5600 ran 88 mph. If that helps!

Seriously? You are at 22 percent slip as well, assuming you have a 1.5 ratio. I'm really surprised with the lightning bottom. Do you have short lowers?

My same boat (newer big step) side by side would run 89 at at 5200 rpm on stock 32 4 blade bravos when the engines were stock 575scis, that's 15 percent slip.

You guys both have lots of room to lower slip and gain some performance

Im talking hot summer day, 1/2 tank of gas, and a few people on board.

I would think 90 or maybe low 90's, is a realistic goal if you truly have 750hp per side. But, you probably need some tweaking to get there. Prop rotation, prop style, trim settings, etc. Without indicators, one drive being off a number or 2 from the other can make a big difference at 90mph range.

In regards to the engines, what exactly was done to them, to go from Eddie Young 625's, to 750's? To gain 125hp, there had to be some MAJOR changes made, or a blower added. What are the details of the build?
Ummm, I'm pretty sure the fever and lightning have the exact same bottom. The cap and interior is the only difference with the interior on the fever being much wider and roomier than the lightning. I have had a 2001 38 lightning and a 2001 38 fever in my yard side by side, and the rubrail down is identical, sit on the same trailer identical. Now maybe the way the weight is balanced can affect the speeds? that I don't know, but he is definitely not running a true 750/side or the props are jacked, or he doesn't have it trimmed and tabbed right. should be a 95-100 mph boat.

NMCA_Chevy - you've been asked some very pertinent questions to help people help you that you've blown off responding too.

Please answer so they can help you.

To be honest, I'm still working my way up to a WOT run. I purchased the boat about 4 weeks ago, and have been learning it's characteristics. Previous owner stated 103, but I'm waiting to verify. I don't want to end up on someone's youtube channel...

That is true after 2000, when just a few fever tops were made. However the 1999 and older are different animals. 2000 marked a new age for the lightnings, and was the first 38 lightning. The bottom changed again in 2002 with much larger steps, and was also offered in semi stag on the lightning only. 2003 marked the last year of the fever top on a 38. Then in 2007 the 38 became a full staggered setup.
