Default Model/Brand/Size Recommendations for new Boater!

I hope this is the right section. Looking to purchase a new boat and moving over from a cruiser. Can you tell me which Model/Brand/Size of boat would eat through chop well like a cruiser? Wife wants to ensure the new boat has a smooth ride and dont know where to look first. Thanks for the help!

Not enough info.
What is your budget?
Where do you boat?
How much boat can you tow/store?
Do you plan to overnight on the boat, or just cruise/use it for the day?
How many people do you plan on boating with?
How fast do you think you want to go?

There are HUNDREDS of threads just like this one. Try using the search function.

All too often these threads end up as two dozen of post exerting glorious brand loyalty, with only a few actually offering impartial advice & experience; unfortunately.

41 Apache!

Okay, the standard responses here are going to be where do you boat (ocean, small lakes, big lakes, etc), how many people do you take with you, how fast do you want to go, what is your budget?

There are so many different type of boats at different budget points so it is hard to make one recommendation. Re,member that a performance boat is going to go much faster than a cruiser resulting in a completely different type of ride. Big heavy boats tend to cut through big water better than small lighter boats.

Edit: See, Sydwayz already beat me to it!

Would like to keep it under $350,000. Mostly boat at LOTO. Have ample storage and have a FL Sportchassis for towing. Does that help?

Shiat, you can get an entry level starter boat for $350K. Just kidding.

With that kind of budget and with your tow rig your choices are pretty unlimited. Again, how fast do you want to go? You can get into a used big Skater or MTI cat with big power to be in the 150MPH + range. Or a big Cigarette or Outerlimits or similar V hull with a decent cabin. Again, power choice will dictate speed and cost.

We need to know what your priorities are.

Budget gives you a lot of choices. Sea trial with wife before buying. Good luck.

Would prefer the boat to be open and not closed off like a catamaran. What eats through the chop well so on a rough weekend at LOTO?
