I was going to do that on a boat I had a couple of years ago. I talked to a guy at speedmaster who indicated that drive is about an inch and a half lower than a trs, so I would have to raise the X or the boat would go slower. Also said hydraulic steering was highly recomended as the prop is about 3" further back, and the stock steering might not be able to handle the torque. Not tring to bust your bubble, just want you to be sure of all the facts as they wher told to me. Good luck!

thanks for the reply, but ssm3's are very very close to the same dimension as trs 1/4 " i raised my x dimention a couple fo years ago, got carried away and had to add 2" spacers in drives to get on plane. if all goes right i should be about 2" off the the bottom

We raised my drive almost 5" (engine up 5") so that the center line of the prop shaft was 3 1/2" below the bottom of the boat.
If you talk to a few riggers, you will find this is the right dimention off the bottom for getting on plane and top speed combined.
You also have to move the engines back 3 or so inches. The TRS tailstock is longer than the SSM.

i will have to measure those trans to see if your right about the length. sure didnt notice any diff with the length. about the off the bottom figure, i think i will start where i'm at. i can always add spacer

Let me know if you need any measurements off my drives- I have #3 crescents. They are stagggered, so x diminsions may not apply.
