Default Ford guys..electrical help//

95 ford exploder... Windshied wipers started acting up, would not turn on, leave switch on going down the road and poof they turned on but would not turn off. now they wont turn on at all.. Im guessing multifuction switch?? any other ideas? Or how to bypass everything and just wire the motor up on and off?? what color wires??

Thanks.

on mine i think its the delay that acts up and causes that. If i switch from the delay to full on and back a couple times its fine.

Had a problem on my 98 f150. It was a ground problem where the switch assembly screwed to the steering column. But mine didn't work an always turned off. That's all I have for you. Good luck. Artie

Ford uses some fukery with the GEM module to control the delay cycle. Could be the switch, GEM module, or the wiper motor. There is really no quick diag to pinpoint the problem. If you just want to bootleg up a switch and make the motor work at will, throw power on the white wire of the wiper motor connector. That should get you low. If you throw power to the DB/O (Dark blue with orange tracer maybe? I hate Ford color coding) instead of the white that should give you high speed. Rig up a three way switch and you would be a sloppy mechanic baller. At any rate, here is the diagram, do with it as you wish.

i think you should pull it all and install a carbon dash with all new switches. . . . race seats . . . . paint truck white . . . . black stripe and custom Salvador Daly installed pleating . . . . . baller hauler mini style . . . . or put a hitch on the Caddy

check the ground at the wiper motor,,common problem..loosen the wiper motor screws and cleen and reinstall them..if that dont work then its the delay module like mentioned..

Really sounds like a ground problem...if not then mostly likely the MF switch. The GEM module monitors the resistance values from the MF to activate the desired setting. with no (path to) ground the resistors in the MF leave an open signal. The fact that wipers started when going down the road suggests the ground was restored for a moment and the GEM turned the wiper motor ON. Hit a bump and lose the ground the GEM leaves the wipers in the last known command position and they won't turn off when commanded...again, check the grounds and then move to the MF switch.

Hope this helps, Good Luck!

Donzi Matt....do you have the diagram of the control side (MF switch)?
