"Sea Tow was called, Chief Sulahian said, because the unmanned cigarette boat was traveling in circles.

“The Sea Tow captain matched the speed of the boat with his, got close and just stepped in and turned it off,” Chief Sulahian said."

Lucky bastard. If I got tossed mine would for sure end up on the rocks.

This is why I don't let my son drive my boat, you've got a have years of experience to drive a performance powerboat at high speeds, glad everyone was OK.

Seems that it would be possible to have/use sensors on the trim, steering and throttle/torque to ensure that the drives are in the safe zone relative to the steering input.

For the record I do believe the driver owned the boat and it was not his fathers - I will agree he was clearly not driving sensable.

Also "for the record", the person listed as the driver does not own the boat, although the owner was on board. I understand nobody was seriously hurt and the boat is okay... they got lucky!

Yes Spicy, that's the boat. From my understanding, they were turning to head tward a restaurant, the step caught and tossed them out of the boat. Basically, just what everyone always talks about with step bottom boats....NO SHARP TURNS. Everyone reported to be ok, so that's what is important.
