Portable unit: hard to beat Valentine 1.

Make sure you download Waze app for your phone too.
It crowd sources realtime info, namely when people tag locations of police; as well as other traffic issues.
It's well used on I-95.

But they're useless against instant-on right? Or is there a signal the instant-on gives before getting zapped?

Not familiar with Wayz, is it better than Google Maps traffic?

I'm actually on my way home from south Carolina and read about waze last night. So does anyone use it? Work ok? Reviews look mixed but overall good. I was just concerned with the term "social tracking". Not looking to add yet another social anything to my phone least of all some tracker lol. Can you use just the warning and avoidance features?

Hmmm. . . . Interesting . . . . . Just downloaded waze and I can see other users that are around me on the map. I did not open a user name yet so I come up as a generic icon with no info. Not quite sure I like the ability to be real time tracked but I'm pretty sure you can use this AP passively. Kinda cool though, I'm out in the middle of no where and there are users going by every couple minutes.

Always keep a car a 1/4 mile ahead of you.....when they get zapped your detector will pick it up and warn you in time, otherwise they got ya.
