I've always been one to over-exceed the limits of my trucks, smart.....no, but did what I had to do with what I had. My 3/4ton ford diesel puked the front end the week before I launched my boat this year, I hooked my wifes 2014 ram 1500 to our 38 fountain fever, it would do it If I had to.....but it gave it a reverse rake in the worst way, I even said no way in hell (maybe if it had air bags in the rear). So I borrowed my dads 1 ton dually crew cab f350, lost the EOH brakes (disks on all three axels) 5min outside of milwakee wi in rush hour traffic, I wouldnt do that again. All I have to say is thank god I was in that one ton with heavy brakes.
You could air bag the denali, make shure the trailer has good trailer brakes, and be able to handle it in my opinion. After my last expierience, just always be ready to have no trailer brakes, you never know when they wont work.
As of boats, did you ever look into the 32 fountain fever? Lots of them had pretty decent size twins, they will have a wider cockpit than the 35 lightning, for more of wifes friends comforts. Plus it would be a little closer to the towing cap. of a 1500.
Good luck
