The guy on the live broadcast said they were 4-6's. That would make the wave size when I won about 20-25's.

Possibly a tidal change ? A lap or 2 it can throw you a few big ground swells and then level off . But with the wind now switching it appears the seas are building. Going to be real fun for the last race... Notice how many times they came around and didn't launch as bad...

As for agreeing or disagreeing with the call, I have no opinion as I have no dog in the fight. To be clear, and I don't think I was, the race was shortened by number of laps, not lap distance, today. My pure guess is it what was done to preserve equipment. On that, too, I have no opinion.
Matt, not arguing with you but to say "preserve equipment" I have raced and won baja and one of the things that originally drew me to offshore racing back some 35 or 40 so years ago when I saw it on tv for the first time is that in offshore as well as off road, you are not only racing against the competition, you are racing against yourself. The skiil needed to know just how far you could push yourself and the equipment without destroying it. with finishing in itself being an accomplishment. IMO shortening a race to preserve equipment is denying the racers the greatest part, the mental aspect of racing.
