I was under the impression all SOTW announcements are paid! I want to believe Matt himself shared that with us not to long ago.
Paid or not I know I appreciate his & Jason's coverage of the sport.

That is incorrect. We have advertisers and we do cover their news. We also cover the news of non-advertisers. Obviously, we'd like all the advertising revenue we can get but we do not discriminate based on whether or not a company advertises.

We cover what we believe is relevant to the marketplace.

I'll give you an example. We have covered the news of Douglas Marine/Skater, MTI and Outerlimits for five years this month ... November is the anniversary month for speedonthewater.com. Those companies became advertisers in 2014. So coverage is not contingent on advertising. It never has been. Never will be.

Again, we cover what we believe is relevant to the marketplace.

As for Qatar Marine Sports Federation ... if you read the story, it is properly and rather throughly sourced back to the Qatar Marine Sports Federation, which sent out a press release to various media outlets last night. Because this is a rather big story in our world (and I base that on the traffic numbers I review through our site's Google analytics every day) we are following it closely. But I am not a "paid correspondent" for any racing organization. Nor is Jason Johnson.

I find it strange are or least interesting—I think that's the correct word—that no one asked if I was SBI's correspondent when we covered the Key West Worlds earlier this month (and covered the hell out of those). For the record, SBI also didn't pay us a dime ... and we wouldn't have expected them to. That's not how it works.

I believe you did. But I don't know anyone named Bullhead so it doesn't count.

Now, that—covering the kilo run not drinking a beer—was an adventure.

Thanks for the beer!
