Here is another post I got off of the newsgroup rec.boats.

Tell me how many holes you can find in this story. I found several facts that didn't fit. I'm sure there are people here that know WAY more then myself that can find more.

I once had a boss who was a rich arrogant dude, who had a 40 foot
cigarette boat shipped up from florida to Utah. He bought a ford f-350
to drag it around. He took us out one day on the lake for a test run
at "cruising speed". This boat had dual 454 big block chevy's with
merc outdrives, auto trim tabs and auto everything else. We plugged
along to get out of the marina to open water. Just as we passed the
edges of the harbor the jerk jammed the throttles to the floor and
away we went like a bat outta hell. After a minute or so i looked down
at the speedometer, and we were at 110 mph. Now i don't know what
cruising speed was supposed to be for that boat, but i do know that
even with dual twist stainless props on both motors, the guy could gas
it at over 100 mph and get nothing but cavitation on the props and no
more speed. I suppose this could be "cruising speed" for a 40 foot
rocket . By the way, the dam thing sucked 50 gallons of fuel in 30
minutes. He claimed it held 215 gallons. .....LOL. Glad it's not mine.

Nothing pi$$es me off more than some dumb fu&k trying to bash on powerboaters when he or she really havent got a clue as to what they are talking about.

What really sucks is that most people would belive this kind of story just because it sounded good and they dont know any better:mad:

This kind if sh!t gives us a bad reputation:mad: :mad:

LOL....I knew this would start an uproar. 100+mph on twin stock 454s in a boat that size. That's the one that makes me laugh the most.

How about the dual props? Anyone ever see a Cig with Bravo IIIs? Maybe someone has, I know I haven't.
