Baja Sells 23 Islander OB Show Boat
The only Baja on display—the first 23 Islander with an outboard engine—has already sold.

Hmmm..... an entry level, five-figure pricetag, low maintenance outboard-powered boat sold at its' debut show...Weird. (Probably would have been sold even faster with a 350 Verado and closed deck/cuddy.)

Yeah, article said MSRP was $84k with boat show price of $71k, first test speed of 52mph.... So cheaper than many of the wakeboard boats, and at least as fast as Yamaha's SX240 jet boat.
The second question I was usually asked when selling my XLT and Stingray was "will it beat my buddy's Mastercraft/Sea Doo boat/SX240?" The first was "are you firm on the price?"
That little Baja may get some buyers out of jets and wake boats if they can keep one or two ready for delivery.

Yes thats right 84 K for the street price as I did not read the SOTW story until now plus remember seeing 84 K in person. Why would I buy this when I can buy a 23 ft Cobalt with a Merc V-8 350 mag for price range 78 to 86 K or even better yet have a Volvo DP sterndrive app matched to the Cobalt. Also Baja has no dealer base for any hull & rigging warranty work.
Also not many dealer base to work on Suzuki outboards. Suzuki is not a bad outboard but hard to find parts and certified repair centers plus nothing performance wise to offer . Just saying.
Exterior wise the boat looks like 14 years old as well. Nothing changed there. In its a day it was a good seller but not for 84 K and a slow poke currently.
