Use HIN number to find motor/drive serial number?
So to start Baja does not have info predating 2005 and the boat is a 91. Anyone have ideas on how to find out motor drive serial #s from HIN number? There is a lot to this story and I will elaborate when needed.

The HIN doesn't depicted serial numbers, only manufacturer, length, model, production run, and month, year. serial numbers are on the drives, I have the original paper work for my 33 Outlaw and it has stickers of the drive serial numbers in it, and the engine serial # were on the valve cover's

very simple in our state and others but not sure of yours.
The state boat titling office as the registration stays with the boat. You can do a title history of the boat and the title will state engine and drive serial #'s thru out plus are boats titles always have that printed on the title. I really like that they do this.
The 1 % ers are you can call Mercruiser with your HIN and see if any warranty work thru a true Merc dealer was issued and paid. They might have that info for all the serial #'s matching to that HIN. A real long shot 4 sure especially since the Stillwater plant is long gone as well.
Possible service dealers that worked on the boat if you knew any.
If the boat ever had a Lien on it you could go back to them and get the info as well. They should have paper work with all info recorded, the only hope is if they are still in biz again another long shot if you are needing 1991 info.
