Engine (new) was in an old 22' Hammond Challenger with an Alpha SS and just touched 80MPH.

Yup, good stuff.

Edit in: I bought the SS and 2-3 props (all beautiful) off that boat. LOL. DonziMatt got the engine.

Ya I believe your right. SBC running good be sweet. My old one was 260hp but tired with 1000 hours on it.I imagine it was closer to 200hp. A fresh motor 350-400 HP prolly be night and day difference.it did 52mph with the tired motor. Hopefully get 70/w 400 HP

first you change the water pump in the drive and find out if the overheat problem is fixed. phoenix AZ. no salt i take it. so rotted out intake manifold, etc is less likely but still a possibility. get the junker motor holding temp before you put a new one in there...

X2. install a water pump kit when u do the motor swap... its pointless to spend a few hundred bucks on a shot out engine... youll get a lot of advise on oso and MOST will be good advise....

for instance if its gonna break u buying a stout 383, buy a decent plane jane 350, with the money you save buy a ton of hershey kisses!

you can pick up just as many fat girls with hershey kissss as you can with an extra hundred ponies...

ps. remember to buy some butter to grease their hips. it will make it essier to push em through the doorway to your bedroom...xoxo rm
