Ballough Tests New Stock-Class Doug Wright with Mercury 200XS Engines
There will be a new SBI Stock class 32-foot Doug Wright with twin Mercury Racing OptiMax 200XS engines on the racecourse in Cocoa Beach this weekend courtesy of Gary Ballough and FJ Propeller.

fantastic move for the class, looking forward to seeing how it stacks up to the 2.5 on the course. It makes a lot of sense to switch to that motor.

.
Congratulations!
Does the 200XS have jackplates or are they bolted directly to the transom?

Better than the alternative?
When the idea was officially introduced to our class I generally liked it. At the time I had a bunch of aging 2.5's and a light 30 foot boat. The consensus was it would slow things down too much and send the whole class back to the set up drawing board.
I still generally like the idea a lot. It's hard to tell the difference between 85 and 105 from land or the cockpit. Currently I have no horse in this race. When the time comes to get back into it the 200XS would be a big check in the plus column.
