Rob, most of it comes from the Canton refinery. Also, a Large Marathon refinery in Detroit, a lot of supply, they sell to other outfits. Not sure if Lima refinery does the same???
Kind of like car and boat batteries then. Example: Company calls their spec in and the recipe is adjusted accordingly, good to know. Phragle, what is the better fuel for boats and hi performance cars? I don't know too much about the blends and recipes.

Marathon owns Speedway. It's kind of Marathon's "discount" division.

phragle is correct... 100%. it's all the same base gas. truck pulls up - puts their company blend code in, and it mixes additives in as it is filling truck.

Outside of blending, It's the condition of the tanks, filters, and 'refresh rate' of each gas station more than anything.

That said, god I miss the Sunoco 94 .

Is the fuel different quality between a Marathon and Speedway station?

Not sure what constitutes "quality", but I don't believe they get the same additive blend.

I run Speedway all the time...its the only station in my 'hood that is big enough to fit the boat! Never had an issue. Station I go to WAS a Gas City until Speedway bought them out 3 or 4 years ago...

Long ago in Michigan there was a chain of Speedway 79 gas stations which Marahon bought. Suposedly the 79 stood for the octane rating back then.
