Default Wrong Camshaft

Found out the hard way last week that Mercury installed the wrong camshafts on some 300 Verados, Got a call from the builder and said 1 of my Verados has to get checked out. When checked out at TNT,Yep 1 motor has the wrong camshaft. From the information that I was told that Mercury installed some 350 Verado cams in the 300's.

The fix is replacing the complete Power Head. Just what I want new motor taken apart and put back together. Not to say I don't have confidence in TNT just that I don't like fixing new. Sometimes never the same.

Yes sounds like it has a bad valve, and will not idle smooth. Also contacted Mercury when I heard of the potential problem and when I gave them my serial#s the tech that I talked to said that there were not problems that he knew of with the Verados. I'm not sure but I'm wondering if Mercury is trying to keep this under the RADAR.

Powerhead replacement is a lot better than going internal!

I agree but how about a New Replacement Motor instead of tearing apart my new never been run motor. Wishful thinking!!!
