Question Carrera ss8m?

Anyone have any information on these boats? How well were they built? Performance? I've seen them for sale with a single I/O, and twins. To me they look just like a 26' Sutphen, any conection?. I also see that Carrera is making a center console fishing boats, is it the same company? original owners? They have a 27' center console, is it the same hull as the ss8m?

Thanks Kirk

I believe the boat in the photos was made by Carrera in Miami...company owner was Humberto Picon....they're out of business and no conncection to Sutphen. The boats probably at least 10 years old and was built when there were numerous Cuban owned companies building offshore type boats.....most were well built and strong....if you're looking for an older boat this, if in good shape, would be worthy of serious consideration.

He made two versions a 27' flat deck and a 29' raised deck, also made the hulls for cobalt at one time. Then cobalt bought the molds so they could have control.

Default Carreras

They went out of business around 83.. Ive had a thirty wich I sold about 5 years ago ..What a mistake .. Building motors for a 24 set up for outboards that I bought.. They are a bit heavy but built tough as hell .. Stronger than most of the new boats..
This forum blows for posting pics .. Ive resized too 320+200 and it still says the file is too large ..I have some old carrera brochure pics etc.. If you want em email me.

I've heard that they are great boats, the SS8M seems to be pretty rare, one, if not the best looking hull around if you ask me, Pantera1, could you please e-mail me thge brochure pics you have...thanks...Matt

Those 30' Carrera's were some tough built ombre's! I've riden on a few of them back in the mid to late 80's. They're very heavy---I think about 8000lbs, but they were definately one awesome riding boat in the rough stuff.
