Default 84 Days to Don Aronow Around Long Island Race and Rally

84 days from June 1st to August 22nd

Some interesting racers are on board for the event.

Ryan Beckely and Chris LaMorte....with new Innovation Marine engines

The Stancombe's with Peppers

Tyson Garvin

Former winner Joe Defusco with his small blocks 30 Sonic and a new challenger Steve Peltier with his 30 Sonic with big blocks.

I understand another former winner is refitting his 43 footer with additional fuel tanks.

We still hope Stu Hayim and Johnny Tomlinson, will try to set a race record with their new MTI cat 52 footer. They have the present time record set under ideal conditions.

Former competitor from Virginia with his 18 foot Donzi will be returning as well as a new TOASTY 22 footer from New Jersey.

Team Saris from Lake George will also be competing in the OPA event in Fall River, Mass the previous weekend.

From July 2nd to August 1st, the entrance fee for the race is $1,200.00

From August 2nd to August 21st the entrance fee for the race is $1,500.00

Entrance fee on the day of the race is $1,650.00

ENTER EARLY AND SAVE THE MONEY FOR EXTRA FUEL FOR THE RACE!

This is something that everyone should check off their bucket list.

Take movies, take photos just so your grandkids don't think you are making it up.

By the time your grandkids are old enough, this kind of activity will probably be outlawed.....so do it now so you can tell them all about it.

We need some feedback for the RALLY.

So far we have talk of teams being made up of Outerlimits, Sutphen, Cigarette and Magnum owners.

There is some mis-information out there that the TEAMS all have to have the same boat brands. NO........you can have all different brands to make up the teams. Each boat will do 1/4 of the total race distance.

We have also been asked if just two boats can make up a TEAM. Yes, they would each do 1/2 of the distance.

The idea is simple.

Everyone says they have this old school style of racing on their bucket list.....BUT they don't want to do 271 miles for their first attempt......

OK then do it as a team, so you get the taste of the actual conditions out there and maybe that will be good enough for you...OR maybe you will really like it and come back next year and do the race.

SOOOOOO....who is coming to race in the rally?????

We have another definite entry.

Guess who is coming to play????

Talk about OLD SCHOOL.........

This is the same team that ran in the Cowes race and won the Guersney Cup a few years ago.

42 foot Chief / Arneson drives / Ilmor engines / Step Bottom

Photo here is not the new Chief, but the old Apache 41.....we will get new photos and post them.

Outerlimits has the race record now.....can this entry set a new race record?

Is there 4 designated check points where the other boats will be staged and waiting for there team mates?

I can jump in here and answer this.

Yes, there will be designated points where boat # 1 hands over to Boat # 2 and so on.

Both boats will have to be off plane and the handover has to be made in a safe manner. There is still a lot of discussion as to what exactly that means.

The main thing we are stressing here is the SAFETY factor both for the boats and any spectators watching. The hand off will have to be in open water as we don't want to deal with inside a harbor congestion etc.
