They probably swapped to a hydraulic cam. There are immediate HP gains just by switching to a hydraulic cam. I'd send the blower off to get it freshened if you don't think it has been yet. Eddie Young sent mine off to DMPE and they ran like a raped ape along with his heads/cam swap.

DMPE always does my blowers on my original 575's........ definatly one of the many reasons I'd like to know what has been done on these engine......

Thinking you mean roller cam since the original 575 cam is a hydraulic cam. But it's a flat tappet

TTT...... still looking for some info on these engines..... I'll be running them again this summer. All ran well last year and my original 575's are rebuilt and ready to drop in if there is an issue with these this coming season..... I'd just love to know what was done to these..... it helps with propping boat correctly and getting the most out of them.......

Did you already ask Cobra if they would pass along your contact info to the person they got the scarab from? That would seem like the easiest route to me.

I did, and I got nothing...... no surprise there.....lol...... I'm happy they've run good so far though.... Well if I don't get anything here I guess I'll find out when time comes to tear them down. I hope to get at least another season or two out of them........ We'll see........
