Really sucks when bad things happen to good boats.

As Expensive Date said, re float, a lot of drying out, a few electrical issues and a nice going over for the engines she'll be as good as new. When was the last time anyone here bothered to pull their carpets and cleaned underneath?

Compare it to the Cig that "broke" recently and I think that Fountain is the better buy now.

As already stated, it's fresh water. Someone had lots of work to do but the boat should be fine!

Sure until you try to sell it on OSO!

Also consider you may not be able to "dry it out" when the hull is 1000 lbs heavier than it used to be after 150 gallons of water gets absorbed into the hull/stringers. If that boat has insurance it is going to be a write off, if no insurance it is going to be a craigslist ad: Great boat, needs new cushions and motors ran great before I stopped using the boat!

Something doesnt seem right, how does a boat like this take on that much water to sink over night, something else has to be wrong for that to happen

Very possible with the amount of rain we have gotten in the area.

Remember they are half way sinking normally

What normally happens in this type of case? Insurance company pays out the claim and then sells the boat as salvage?

They had monsoon like storms overnight. That plus poss. runoff from the houseboat roof it was tied up to is a lot of water. No cockpit cover and off/non working bilge pump is another big factor. Roads in town had cars stranded due to heavy flash flooding.

yep, then some yahoo buys it for $8,000 at the salvage auction, puts in some used motors and lists it for sale for $79,900 mentioning it was a freshwater boat, 2 owner, mint shape but always seems to omit the submarine duty.
