Grants farm is neat, it is where they keep the budwieser cyldales, best of all it is free ( or at least was a few years ago). Tour of the budwieser factory is free and neat if you have never been.

I live about 30mins south of downtown St. Louis and the arch. Have lived there my entire life (36yrs) it is not as dangerous as you think. Stay away from north county and you will be fine. The city is beautiful, arch, zoo, forest park, union station are all great places to see and visit in the city. As others have said you would probably be best meeting somewhere west of the city in St Charles. Ameristar casino is right in the heart of historic st charles and on the riverfront of the Missouri River. You could meet there the parking lot is plenty big. Lots of restaurants in the casino or very nearby and a bass pro shop and west marine right across the street.

There is a nice Drury Plaza and Hyatt right next to it on Hwy 40/64 in Chesterfield. Nice area and easy access to just about everywhere. Ameristar and downtown St. Charles is a place that's worth going too. Four Seasons and Lumiere downtown are nice hotels but not much other than that in that area besides bars or catch a Cards game if they are in town. Cool places to eat in the Central West end area too.
