For one of the Great Lakes venues, you could always resurrect the "Northport 200" race from back in the 80's. Possibly run it within a week or two of Boyne Thunder, usually plenty of hardware in Northern Michigan for that event.

What are the dates of Boyne Thunder for next year?

just the fact that the four teams even made the attempt is great , and good for our sport .

that type of run is not for the weak of heart , and mind for sure .

Too much of a race for most people, agreed.

If we can get three races pulled off next summer and let people build up Open Ocean racing skills, we can start to get more entrants.

If those three races happen and the interest grows....maybe, just maybe, we can schedule another BIG ONE!

I think I can say that I heard from every team that raced in the race from Miami to Bimini and back, they had the best time and could not wait to do it again.

We had some great NorthEast courses in the past. Plymouuth, Mass to the Cape Cod canal to Provincetown to Boston to Plymouth. Lots of ocean with 360 degree views from the cockpit. The Around Cape Cod race. Gloucester, Mass to a chckpoint off New Hampshire back down to Boston Harbor.

Rhode Island.... from Newport around Block Island to a checkpoint off Nantucket, Marthas Vineyard back to Newport. Big boy water most of the time.

Connecticut out to Montauk around Block Island over to Cuttyhunk and back to Connecticut.
