Stagger Question
#21
Yes and no depends what you have to get to. Spark plugs are a whore on the front motor on the out side. And the water pump was bad on the front motor it was mounted on the out side. That will be different this year going to a diesel single stage raw water pump. But every thing else is easy to get to.

I can get 6 of the 8 plugs out of the front engine in about 6 minutes, the remaining 2 plugs take about 40 mins. I damn near gave up. Ended up being a 2 person job.

It also depends on what drives you plane to run. you can do a full stagger with bravos in 80 inches, speedmasters you need at lease 96 inches short stagger you can gain some room by putting the starboard motor forward but it all depends on your accessories package. I have done it both ways

Dan I have 5 drives but no boxes as I notched the hull . Like a bravo , could I do the stagger with the starboard motor left as a plug in ( no short drive shaft ) and port forward and still meet the 80 inch parameter ?

Rick from the Merc drawings with the 600 number V staggered the measurement is 94 7/8 inches but that's with a big space between the motor mounts on the front and rear motors. they show just over 60 inches between the front mount on the rear motor to the rear mount on the front motor. I believe that you can tighten that up quite a bit. I have a 42 Fountain here that we rigged with number Vs and its engine room is 81 inches along the top of the outboard stringers and the rear motor is a plugin the rear motor plate on the front motor is 46 1/2 inches from the transom and this boat has a 22 inch center to center on the crank shafts.

Thanks Dan great info . SkaterMike thank you too . Skater could tell me the distance from the front motor mount on the rear motor to the front motor mount on the forward motor ?
That measurement combined with Dans measurement would be money .
Thanks in advance .

I don't have any pics posted on the board anywhere. I have a short video in a thread in the tech section. Rick- sorry I haven't gotten out there to take the measurements yet. I also have V's with a notch.
