Paint or vinyl lettering?
My plan is to finally name my boat this winter. I've enlisted the help of a co-worker and friend who used to be an illistrator to design the logo for me "HOODLUM II". Unfortunately, the only experience I have with lettering on the boat are the custom vinyl MC numbers I had made for it. There are a ton of vinyl sign shops in my area as well as very reputable paint artists.
Anyone have a preference? It would seem to me that vinyl may peel, while at the same time paint may fade and wear.  |
Personally, I opted for the vinyl. No problems with it, been on the boat for 7 years now, no fading, cracking or peeling. But don't ever hit it with Spray Nine or other strong cleansers.

definetly use vinyl for lettering. up side is if you ever go to sell this boat, it is a selling point that perspective buyers can remove your name from it. make sure they use a high quality vinyl and you shouldnt have any problems with durability ( there are several diferent grades)
